Stovehouse Update

August has been a month of further progress as well as encountering some mechanical problems.  We had to put a hold on the removal of the lime wash from the rear walls due to our needle gun drills braking down, however they will hopefully be repaired quickly and we can get going again soon.   We also had a visit from Regular Army Personnel serving at the Army Personnel Centre in Glasgow.

As a result of the breakdown, we had to leave the lime wash removal and move onto the removal of the lower lighting windows in section 1.   They are now off and appear to be in not too bad condition.   The removal of the windows exposed some rotten lower sills and this could not have come to light at a more convenient time as we had the 4 visitors from APC Glasgow led by Col Richard Winstanley and Major Jamie Nowell.  The team from APC cut out the rotten wood and cleaned up the stone work.  They have requested a further visit later in the year and we will be delighted to welcome them back.

Eddie our volunteer joiner has completed the new stairs into the soil shed so the movement of individuals, material and equipment can now be done in safety.   Work on the new Stovehouse store has also been started.
