As you will see from the photographs in the gallery, the scaffolding is well on the way to being fully erected with just the last third of the roof section to be completed. Once the scaffolders have finished working on the remaining section, the waterproof covering will be put in place and work can begin inside.
We are very fortunate to have a professional joiner who has kindly volunteered his services. Eddie, who used to work at Auchincruive a few years ago and also on the Stovehouse itself, will be our main source of joinery expertise. He will assist with the restoration and any necessary replacement of the Stovehouse frame. Eddie has been very busy blocking off the rear of the middle section, ably assisted by his ‘labourer’ Hugh. This will reduce the effects of the wind coming through and help to protect the main covering.
