New faces at Gardening Leave

As Gardening Leave continues to grow, so must our staff so that we can deliver the best service to our veterans.

There is a stretch of the River Ayr within the grounds of Auchincruive and as fishing is a popular activity with our veterans, we have now appointed a Fishing Co-ordinator Jamie Murray.  Jamie is also a veteran of 26 years having served latterly with 2 Scots, RRS.

Since the official opening of Gardening Leave Chelsea held in  April 2011,  two more members of staff have come on board.  Charlotte Richmond is our new Trainee Horticultural Therapist and is providing support to Tara in delivering sessions to our veterans.   Ian Ford has also joined the team at Chelsea in the role of Veterans’ Travel Buddy. One of the biggest barriers for veterans who are referred to GL Chelsea is getting there by public transport and Ian will provide mcuh needed support by  accompanying them on all or even part of their journey to GL Chelsea if they so wish.
