Another busy month of visits, volunteers and much woodwork and gardening!
We were delighted to welcome the Presiding Officer Alex Fergusson MSP to Gardening Leave on the first day of his Summer Tour around Scotland and he planted a rowan tree (Sorbus acuparis) here in the gardens to mark the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Scottish Parliament.
Stuart and Caroline joined our merry band of volunteers this month. We are very grateful to them, and to all our wonderful volunteers who give their precious time to Gardening Leave; we literally would not exist without them.
The feedback from the Volunteers Training Day which Pamela and Evelyn ran at Auchincruive was terrific and illustrated to me the importance of providing regular opportunities for our volunteers to get together.
Our tomatoes in the Stovehouse are ripening well and in the kitchen garden the peas, beans and sunflowers are all flourishing.
It’s Ayr Flower Show next week and we are all very busy with this year’s show garden designed by Peter Southall and Stevie Gibb. The pictures will be on the ‘new’ reconstructed website, still at the same address just with more content; progress, change, or maybe just a sign of Gardening Leave growing up……..
Happy days,
Anna BC.
